I can write a blog! I have thoughts!
-- Amy Adams, as Julie, Julie and Julia (2009)
Long ago, so long ago that I don't remember exactly when but it was between six years and six months ago, I resolved that before too much more of my life had elapsed I would begin a blog. I have since put off fulfilling this resolution for a number of reasons such as a supposed lack of time and supposed lack of creativity, but mostly because I lacked the energy and willpower to decide upon a theme-- after all, every blog should have a theme, shouldn't it?
But the new year and my quickly-approaching birthday awakened the resolution once again in my mind, and gave it an insistence that no longer could be ignored. One opportune evening recently (namely, today), after reading a friend's blog and finding myself already on the site, the moment seemed as right as it ever could be. A concrete theme still eludes me, so I have temporarily adopted the theme of Random (or My Thoughts) until a more suitable one shall present itself.
So here at long last, is the little brown bird's first song in this new world of Blogspot. Like most little birds, she will sing energetically at her very best whether anyone is listening or not, simply for the sake of the song itself, and for the sake of the old grandfather and his grandson as they pass her while walking their dog through the park. After all you never know, someday they may stop and listen. Her energy springs not from the fact that someone listens, but that if someone listens, there is a chance that it will bring them a moment of enjoyment and their day will be a bit better for it.
I loved your picture of the purpose of the bird's singing. Made me smile. :)
