To everything there is a season.

I edited this blog because the original topic, 'blogging,' was overly redundant.
Tonight, my two dear roommates and I took down our Christmas decorations. It was definitely time to take them down, although we cannot be judged for not taking them down earlier, as we were away on Christmas break all these many weeks. New Years are times of rejoicing for... well, the new year. But the brief hours of removing seasonal decorations call, most appropriately, for a moment of sadness and reflection. 2010 is over, and it will never come again. This time next year, it will be 2011 that is gone and can never be got back again. Naturally, this pensive melancholy thought inspires one to embrace every day of the coming year and live it to the fullest, so that that time of The Taking Down of Decorations at the birth of 2012 will be a time more of rejoicing than of sadness, as a well-lived 2011 is laid to rest.
You didn't realize that the Taking Down of Decorations was such a solemn ceremonial moment, did you?
This time, it is also the end of a decade. The 2000's are over. It is interesting to imagine which trends have been set that in the next century will be the theme of future Decades parties. What will we be remembered for? Lady Gaga, Crocs, and Twitter? At any rate, 'tis the end of an era. Welcome to the Two-Thousand-Teens. Just when I thought my teen years were over. Oookay... that was corny.
Here are few other random thoughts before signing off.
I long to be over this dreadfully debilitating chest cold so that I can go again for long morning walks in the crisp cold air.
Black pepper, salt, bay, garlic, fried onion, and parsley are an excellent seasoning blend for many soups. They have done wonders for my vegetable soup, my borsch, and my potato soup. These are the only soups with which I have tried this seasoning blend, but I'm sure it would be successful with other soups also. And what's better on a cold winter evening than hot soup?

I was going to take mine down this weekend but did not... Guess I really should do that today, or it's going to be Feb. again this year! LOL Is it more depressing to listen to Christmas music while removing the decorations? I feel like there should be an appropriate soundtrack to go along with the Taking Down of Decorations...
